Cressbrook BASS Electric Results - 28 June 2009
|
47 Anglers turned out for the final Cressbrook Electric for 2009. The conditions started out calm and comfortable for a winter’s day but the winds started to pick up late in the session. As was to be expected a lot of undersized fish were caught but that did not stop 18 anglers presenting 26 bass to the scales.
David Bullard came out on top with his 2/2 bag weighing a total of 1.730kg. David also took out the big bass with an impressive 1.310kg of Cressbrook bass. David fished the Bull Creek arm of Cressbrook to catch his bag. David said that he was attracted to a section of the bank where there was a lot of baitfish flipping on the surface. Whilst sitting in 40 foot of water David threw a chatterbait that he made himself to the bank to score his winning bag.

2008 Lake St Clair Bass Pro Grand Final: An Amateur’s View
|
by Matthew Hawkless
The anticipation and excitement grew as my first Bass Pro Grand Final as an amateur (non-boater) grew near. One week to go and my rods, reels and bag were packed and ready to go. A little keen, I know.
The trip down fed my hunger with the constant chat of this picturesque dam near Singleton in NSW. The conversation occasionally turning to family and jobs but always returned to fishing. The nine hour trip went fast and before we knew it, tents went up, some dinner and bed.

Wivenhoe Electric Results Jun 14
|
57 anglers turned out to a well publicised Wivenhoe BASS Electric tournament Sunday, June 14 only to find the fishing tough. 15 bass were brought to the scales and it was the Barkhuizen brothers in their Tabs 4.2 Bullshark and Torqueedo 2.0 that faired best.
From the Logans Inlet start line, the pair headed to the first point on the right hand bank heading into the main basin. Seeing a school of fish on their sounder hanging on a steep bank, getting the fish to bite proved to be difficult. Instead, opting to pitch their lures to the nearby shallows proved to be the winning technique.

Lake Lenthalls Electric Results Jun 7
|
Twenty three anglers from as far south as the Gold Coast and north to Gin Gin attended the ABT Bass Electric competition held at Lake Lenthall near Maryborough on the 6th June 2009.
The one metre extension to the wall a couple of years ago and the amount of bass that travelled over the dam wall because of the heavy rains over the past twelve months certainly contributed to the lack of fish that were weighted in at the end of the competition.
There were encouraging signs though, with numerous anglers boating under-sized fish, and the dam structure rapidly changing with lily pads and weed beds returning the dam to its original glory. In the future, there is no doubt that with constant stocking, Lake Lenthalls will live up to its reputation of being once again, one of Queensland’s best bass fisheries.

Inflow for Wivenhoe
|
Sunday June 14 sees the first Wivenhoe BASS Electric for 2009. With dam levels having risen significantly, we will once again be able to utilise the Logans Inlet area as the event venue. With recent captures being recorded within eyesight of the start location, who knows where the winning bag will come from.
Josh Carpenter has put his hand up to be the event coordinator, his first time actually running an event; he is no stranger to the ABT BREAM and BASS scene. The fishing session will be from 7am till 1pm, with registration and checkout from 6am. With a large turnout expected, please be patient as this may bring good karma at the scales.
With prizes and badges awarded from 1st to 5th and ‘Big Bass’, several of ABT’s Member Retailers have jumped on board including Battery Traders, and Fishhead and bulked up the bags with a $50 voucher.
However, for some it is not all about winning. Wivenhoe is renowned as a venue to break records. So why not enjoy a day out with some mates for a small $20 entry fee and perhaps score an invite to the 2009 Motorguide BASS Electric Convention or score some valuable Electric Ranking points.
Gates will open at 6am and the ranger will have boating permits available.

Tabs Grand Pro-Electric Final
|
The sport of electric bass fishing today
broke a couple of records. One a long held speed barrier, the other the first
cash payout electric tournament in Australia.
Torqueedo unleashed
their Crusie 4 on a custom built Tabs E.O (electric only) and were rewarded
with a history making 15.8 kph in fresh water. Was it planning or not planning,
that will be hotly debated. One thing for sure Torqeedo is getting very close.
