Isis Electric Sept 5
|
Twenty six anglers tested their skills at Lake Gregory on Fathers Day. With light winds and occasional showers it looked like prime conditions for an early surface bite, and at the end of the day, the majority of bass were captured using this technique.
Of the twenty-six anglers competing, only nine of those managed to weigh in legal fish. The competition was won by local seasoned angler, Les Barber, who produced at the weigh-in one bass that weighed a cracking 1.845kg - a good sized bass indeed for Lake Gregory. He also won the Big Bass prize with that particular fish. Les targeted the middle arm of the lake, catching his fish on the tenth cast of the day. He couldn't manage to boat another legal fish, but caught around four other under-sized fish. The lure of choice used by Les was the Bassman Spinnerbait quarter ounce, in the brown and orange colour.

BP Electric Aug 29
|
A sunny day at BP dam saw 27 anglers compete in the final electric at BP dam for 2010. There were plenty of undersize fish caught but only 2 legal bass reached the scales. Taking home 1st place and big bass with a 832g bass was Jason Lyons, catching his bass on a sonic boom 7 gram blade on his second cast of the morning.
In second place was John Noble catching a 680g bass casting an Ecogear soft plastic to the points.
Thanks to every one for coming. Will Schloss

St Clair Electric Results Aug 15
|
Battling the elements at Lake St Clair in August, to bring a full limit of bass to the weigh master was always going to be a challenge.
The task was taken on by a Bass Electric record field at this lake, 41 keen anglers on a glassed out lake when the start signal was given. However the conditions were to be short lived and within an hour a breeze built into north westerly winds, gusting to 40km/hr bringing several showers throughout the morning to make conditions miserable. But it was the hail storm toward the end of the session that sorted the “Men from the Boys” so to speak.

Cressbrook Electric Aug 1
|
26 anglers fronted up for another chance to qualify for the Electric convention. The day started out like an early spring day and everyone was enthusiastic after hearing reports of a good pre fish. Unfortunately only three anglers were able to catch legal bass. Roy Souter blitzed the field with his 2 bass limit weighing in an impressive 1.708kg’s. Roy also took out the big bass with a 961gram bass. Roy fished a school up the Bull Creek Arm and sitting in 30 feet of water would cast a smoke yellow core slider on a ½ oz nitro dam deep jig head. Roy would let the slider sink to the bottom and only wind 3-4 times before allowing it to drop to the bottom. Roy only caught the two bass but they were the ones that counted. Roy used a Starlo Stix rod with a Shimano Sustain spooled with 4lb Fireline.
