TABS Grand Electric Grand Final

Posted on Wednesday, June 16 @ 12:13:22 EST by bassadmin

The Tabs Grand Electric has been run and won with 41 competitors battling it out for $3,700 in cash and $1,000 in prizes. Wivenhoe Dam was the rally point for some of the best Electric tournament anglers. With the Speed and range of Combustion engines taken out of the anglers’ bag of tricks, the tournament angler enters a whole new level of fair play & tactics. Your tactical decisions from your pre-rigged lure selection to your primary direction of travel play on your mind right up to the start siren. All these decisions are not helped with all the pre briefing advice and banter dogging your decisions. When the siren goes every anglers mind is fixed on the spot they believe will land them the winning bass as they spread out in different directions. This years winner Glenn White was the angler whom had the formula worked out. Glenn and his Torqeedo raced away from the procession of vessels heading towards Platypus cliffs, a brave move that worked in his favour. In a stroke of genius Glenn worked out early that the deep water bass and jigging wasn’t working. Glenn changed his tactics and fished the edges using his favourite suspending jerk bait a Jackal squirrel in ayu. This change of attack saw his Strudwick 1 to 3 kg Hard Bodz rod bending enough times to secure him victory.

Once again we saw Rod Shorten Take 2nd place, his Flash new Tabs boat certainly not hindering this already proven performance, Rod also took out the Platinum Marine Big Bass Award and Trophy. Kerry Ehrlich took out 3rd place with his very respectable 2.41kg total. In all 29 fish were caught for a total of 29.7 kg proving that Wivenhoe still produces a better that average fish.

The Grand Electric series would like to thank Tabs Boats, Torqeedo, Atomic Soft Plastics and Platinum Marine for their continued support, this year not only for the generous prizes but also for the extra efforts that goes on prior to and at the event. I would like to take this opportunity to once again ask that when competitors choose their, fishing gear, boats, engines etc, remind yourself what does the company I’m about to support do to keep tournament angling alive in Australia or do they just take my money. There are plenty of companies supporting A.B.T and affiliated comps and I’m sure out of all of them, one of them will have the perfect product.

We would like to also take this opportunity to thank Dave (Kiwi) Trinder for his generous donation of 11th place prize of a rod and also for the Big Bass Trophy to be passed on annually to the prize winner.
